Stolen From Ivor, St Helens – early 2000s
This photograph shows Stolen From Ivor in St Helens, a clothing shop remembered by many young people growing up in the town.
The shop sold a mixture of affordable fashion and casual clothing and attracted different youth scenes, including moshers, skaters and young people involved in Hip Hop and break dancing. Its relatively low prices and wide range of clothing made it a popular place for young people to find clothes that suited their own style.
Tom remembers shopping at Stolen From Ivor between approximately 2002 and 2005, buying clothing during the early years of the early years St Helens Break Dancing club UC Crew.
The photograph therefore helps document more than a lost St Helens shop. It provides a glimpse into youth fashion and youth culture in St Helens during the early 2000s, and the shops and everyday places that formed part of the lives of the town's young people.
