In the 1840s, Francis Dixon teamed up with his brother-in-law, John Merson, to build a glass factory with two pot furnaces at Thatto Heath, near Ravenhead.
Later the firm moved to the Ravenhead Bottle works land on Ravenhead Roard.eventually merging with five other glass houses to form United Glass Bottle, Ltd (UGB) in 1913. The bottle is dated possibly prior to 1913.
