Photograph taken from the bottom of Parr Street close to the linkway East. In the past at the top of the photograph where Atlas House now stands would have been Bishops Bridge (Where the Pocket Nook Railway line passed under the road.. This is associated with Bishops (S. & C.) & CO. LTD., (Adamant Gauge Glass) Glass Tube works that was on Frazer street that would have been in the vicinity of Hardshaw Brook Council Depot, This is to the right of the photograph close to what would have been Sinclair Street. To the left of the scene where the Salvation Army Hostel is would have been Windle's Timber yard close to the St Helens canal.
Local youths from Fingerpost and the surrounding area got glass tubes from Bishops that they used as Pea Shooters.
