Found on the the banks of Sankey Brook, Earlestown, St Helens close to the filled in Sankey Canal section. Could have come from the Sankey Sugar Works or an old kiln that was in Earlestown. There is also the possibility of the Viaduct Works (Wagons).
Glenboig is a Scottish brick and was made in Lanarkshire.
The Glenboig Union Fireclay Company Ltd originally started around 1836 came from the amalgamation of two brickworks: The Old Works closed in 1958, and the Star Works which lasted until about 1974.
These stones are numbered and probably had a sequence to how they were constructed to form a furnace or kiln.
