Located on the East Lancashire Road in Windle.
This was built at the time of the East Lancashire Road being constructed around 1930ish. It has now been decommissioned and filled in.
Its purpose was for cattle to move along a passage way from one side of the East Lancashire Road to farmland on the opposite side.
It was filled in last year March 2024 but I had chance to see it from above the previous year. A farmer who lives in the area gave an oral history of the cattle Creep as it was used well in the past but had now fell into disuse. There is a pipe at the bottom to still allow some small animals to cross. Appears to be working as I witnessed hares using it when I took the photograph.
