Two photos of a Rail Freight Train going across the Nine Arches Bridges captured by Chris Lannister.
We asked Chris if we could use this photo to evidence the late 1970s-1990s graffiti.
Local teens would use paint and brush in the 70s/80s often car paint and spray paint in the 90s to add their name to the top of the bridge, which is hazardous behaviour.
Their names stayed on the bridge until 2024 when they were removed as part of the bridge maintenance project.
This photograph was part of the 2023 St Helens Hip Hop Heritage Project, focusing on the history of graffiti and Hip Hop music in St Helens.
