Ode to Thomas Skidmore - The Haydock Band (video)

On 7 June 1878 200 men were killed at the Woodpit Mining disaster in Haydock. One of those men was Thomas Skidmoor a cornet player in the Haydock Band. Haydock Band has a tradition of playing Lloyd at the start of rehearsals when one of their members past or present has left this earth. Godfrey irving our Chairman and 50+ year member has written a poem to pay tribute to Thomas 143 years later. The band play a special arrangement of Lloyd by Adam DJ Taylor with Godfrey Narrating his poem. Ode to Thomas is in remembrance of all who died at Woodpit and especially for Thomas. Once Haydock never forgetten.
