The building had been the Mess for the Volunteer Drill Hall, later the 1/5th South Lancashire Regiment Drill Hall; the RNA sign obscures a plaque to that effect - it was revealed during later restoration. After the club closed it became a bar briefly, before Jamm Music Studios.
